In April, prices of essential goods were relatively stable but retail sales declined

Total retail sales of goods and services in the province in April only reached nearly 6,010 billion VND, down 15.5 perrcent compared to March and down 19.5 percent over the same period.

Accumulatively in the first 4 months of 2020, the total retail sales of goods and services in the province reached 29,440 billion VND, reached 28.7 percent of the plan, down 0.7 percent  over the same period (the same period increased by 16 percent).

The reason for the reduction in the retail price of goods and services is that people bought a lot of goods in March and at the same time, in April, the whole country carried out the social distancing so people bought less. Besides, accommodation and catering services also decreased by 57 percent compared to the previous month.

To prevent and control epidemics and meet consumers' needs, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinates with enterprises to supply and retail goods. In general, in April, prices of essential commodities were relatively stable. In particular, the supply of pork at supermarkets and convenience stores in the province is guaranteed quality and quantity, this meets the people’ consuming needs. Some businesses also provide food such as green vegetables, fresh chicken, serving consumers in markets, isolated areas in the area with preferential prices./.
