Nhut Ninh focuses on building a new-style rural commune
With appropriate guidelines and solutions, upper-level authorities’ support and the people’s positive response, Nhut Ninh commune in Tan Tru district, Long An province achieved many results in new-style rural construction. Until now, the commune basically achieved 16/19 criteria of new-style rural construction and is putting efforts to complete the remaining criteria.
Ba Dam road is put into use to help people travel and transport goods and agricultural products
We returned to Nhut Ninh commune when the rural face here changed compared to that of some years ago, the roads were clean and beautiful covered with concrete or asphalt.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tran (residing in Nhut Tan hamlet, Nhut Ninh commune) shared that implementing the motto "The State and the people work together", the people of Nhut Ninh actively contribute money and labour to expand and upgrade the rural roads to serve travel, production and transportation of goods.
Besides, the welfare facilities are also interested in being built by local people. People are very happy.
Vice Chairman of Nhut Ninh commune People's Committee - Vo Thanh Vu said that in order to implement the program of new-style rural construction, the locality focused on wide and deep propaganda among members of unions and associations, and people.
Since then, people have raised their awareness, promoted their roles and actively participated in new-style rural construction by practical actions such as donating land to build roads, contributing money and working days to build other public works, applying science - technology to agricultural production.
As a result, the appearance of Nhut Ninh commune is getting more and more beautifully, people's life is getting better and better.
Remarkably, the traffic system is relatively invested completely. The whole commune currently has 100 percent of communal roads and axis roads asphalted (10.4 kilometers); hamlet-axial and inter-hamlet roads are cemented (4.9 kilometers); clean alley without muddy in the rainy season (5.9 kilometers); 90 percent of the main roads in the fields ensures convenient transportation of goods all year round (6.3 out of 7 kilometers).
Only in 2018, the commune completed and put into use two rural roads (Ba Dam road in Nhut Long hamlet and Co Ut Toi road in Thuan Loi hamlet) with a length of more than 2.1 kilometers, with total construction capital of more than VND 2.3 billion, in which the State invested over VND 1.8 billion, the rest is contributed by the people.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam (living in Nhut Long hamlet, Nhut Ninh commune) said: “When constructing Ba Dam road, people agreed completely, they not only donate land but also contribute money to build it. The previous small, narrow road was replaced by clean, clear concrete road, which facilitated convenient travel for the people”.
From the low starting point, only reached 3/19 criteria of new-style rural in 2011, so far, Nhut Ninh has reached 16/19 criteria. The commune currently has 100 percent of households using electricity regularly and safely; 99.9 percent of households use hygienic water; people participating in health insurance reached 88.2 percent; income per capita reached 42 million VND per year; poverty rate fell to 3.1 percent; etc.
Enhancing scientific and technical support for people to improve their income
According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nhut Ninh commune - Vo Thanh Vu, there are currently 3 remaining uncompleted criteria (income; production organization; environment and food safety); local authorities have specific plans and solutions to implement in 2019.
For income criteria, the Resolution of the communal Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee plan on socio-economic development is strengthened to implement in order to improve people's lives; take advantage of investment programs and projects, create conditions for people to access preferential bank loans; increase science and technology transfer to people to develop family economy, increase income.
For production criteria, people are mobilized to participate in establishing dragon fruit cooperatives in Nhut Long hamlet, coordinating with specialized agencies to support the process and conditions to establish.
Regarding environmental criteria, food safety and hygiene, the percentage of households using clean water in the commune is still low (27.8 percent), the locality coordinates with functional agencies to put into use clean water stations soon in Binh Loi hamlet, Duc Tan commune serves about 600 households in 2 hamlets of Binh Thanh and Nhut Hoa, and at the same time extends the route from the water plant of Long An Water Supply and Sewerage Joint Stock Company to serve clean water needs for the people, strive to increase to about 60 percent of households using clean water.
In addition, the locality mobilizes people to collect and treat garbage in the prescribed places, carry out green, clean and beautiful environmental protection activities, plant trees on roads.
Besides, for criteria with low achievements such as transport and irrigation, and communes enlisting the upper-level authorities’ support and people’s contribution to repair and upgrade the deteriorated roads; dredge and expand on-farm canal routes for agricultural production.
Achieving the above results is not only joy and pride but also the result of solidarity and overcoming difficulties of Nhut Ninh Party Committee, government and people in the construction of new-style rural commune. This is the premise and motivation for the commune to continue to maintain the achieved criteria strived to reach the new-style rural commune's targets soon./.
