Currently, the cooperatives are facing many difficulties and need support from all levels and sectors
Before the Covid-19 epidemic, Muoi Hai Safe Vegetable Cooperative (Long Khe commune, Can Duoc district) purchased more than 12 hectares of vegetables from its members and nearly 20 hectares of vegetables from farmers outside the cooperative. This is the basis for the cooperative to expand its production and trade scale, create trust for members and farmers. When the epidemic broke out, the markets and shops in Ho Chi Minh City closed, the transportation of goods was difficult, so the cooperative could only buy vegetables from its members.
Director of the Muoi Hai Safe Vegetable Cooperative - Le Van Giay said: “Even though the members buy vegetables, the price is very low, only for support purposes, and farmers outside the cooperative can hardly sell vegetables. After that, the cooperative is supported by the District People's Committee with the necessary procedures, so it is easier to transport and purchase agricultural products. Up to now, some members of the cooperative have not sown new vegetable crop for fear that the epidemic will continue to affect them, so the cooperative has to mobilize and propagate so that the supply will not be interrupted, contributing to stabilizing the market.
In the summer-autumn crop 2021, Huong Trang Agricultural Service Cooperative (Binh Hoa Hung commune, Moc Hoa district) intends to coordinate with the district's agriculture sector to open 3 training courses on science and technology transfer; at the same time, it mobilizes farmers to join the association with about 600 hectares for the winter-spring rice crop in 2021-2022 and deploy an electric pumping station.
However, due to the complicated development of the epidemic, the locality continuously implemented social distancing measures, so plans and intentions had to be suspended. Having identified difficulties and obstacles caused by the epidemic, the provincial agriculture sector proactively offered many solutions to overcome difficulties for cooperatives.
The Director of the Provincial Sub-Department of Rural Development and Irrigation - Vo Kim Thuan informed: "The Sub-department is advising the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement the cooperation agreement between the Provincial People's Committee and the Loc Troi Joint-stock Corporation on cooperating to implement the development of the rice value chain, implement the program of linking and developing new cooperatives associated with the construction of rice material areas and fruit trees, developing cooperatives, cooperative groups and farmers’ clubs, providing agricultural services, especially hi-tech agricultural services in Long An; continue to support enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative groups and farmers to introduce products on electronic trading platforms such as Sanocop.vn, http://htx.cooplink.com.vn, voso.vn; informing businesses, cooperatives, rural establishments to participate in fairs, exhibitions on agriculture, craft villages, OCOP in order to contribute to promoting the consumption of agricultural products.
Besides, they advise to confirm the list of machinery and equipment specialized in serving agricultural production for enterprises in the province; advising and supporting the development of models such as applying Atom Oxy technology in aquaculture; applying combine harvesters in harvesting sesame; model applying advanced irrigation technology, saving water for apricot trees; mechanizing in sowing and transplanting rice (applying tray plating, rice transplanting machine) for enterprises, cooperatives and cooperative groups”./.
