Solar power grows strongly

Long An is one of the localities that have the potential to develop solar power and attracts many investors in solar power projects. Up to now, the province has had 3 factories and many solar power roof projects in operation.

3 plants put into operation

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, 16 solar power projects have registered to invest in the province. Up to now, 8 projects have been supplemented by the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the electricity development plan; 8 projects are being submitted be supplemented to the plan.

In 8 approved projects, 1 project was approved by the Prime Minister with a capacity of 100.5MWp and 7 projects were approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to supplement the electricity development plan of Long An province (each project has an average capacity of 40.6MWp to 50MWp). So far, 3 solar power plants have been put into operation and connected to the national grid (Duc Hue 1 TTC Plant and Long An EuroPlast Plant (in Duc Hue district), Bang Duong BCG Plant (in Thanh Hoa district)); by the end of July 2019, electricity generation capacity was about 22.592 million kWh. In addition, 1 plant was commissioned and 2 plants were tested for electricity generation. Thus, by the end of 2019, 3 more projects will put into operation and connect the national grid.

The Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Le Minh Duc said: "Thanks to the attention of ministries, branches, provincial leaders, local authorities and the efforts of investors, the projects are quickly completed, put into operation and connected to the national grid. This event marks the development of the solar power field in the province. For the projects that are being implemented or are not eligible for implementation, the province will create favorable conditions for the investors to explore and set up other solar power projects to effectively exploit the potentials, advantages, create jobs and raise incomes for people, contributing to socio-economic development in the province."

Enterprises have deployed solar power roof

Besides major investors, the solar power project also attracts many businesses and households in the province. According to many businesses, although the solar power roof investment is expensive, they can be proactive in the production process and save on input costs on each product.

The Director of the Duc Hoa RedSun Energy Joint Stock Company – Diep Bao Canh said: "RedSun company has the first solar power plant in Vietnam, it has been operating for more than 10 years. In the past, the company's products were mainly for export only. In the last few years, enterprises in industrial zones and clusters have started to install the solar power roof system. As a result, the company's solar panels output have increased markedly. Therefore, the company has to increase plant capacity to the maximum."

Accordingly, in 7 months of 2019, RedSun company installed a solar power system for enterprises with a capacity of more than 10MW. However, according to Mr. Diep Bao Canh, the company has not met all the needs of customers. On the other hand, the company can produce batteries with its own brand, so it is trusted by the enterprises.

Din Sen Vietnam Co., Ltd. - Long An Branch has a solar power plant in Long Hiep commune, Ben Luc district. This is a garment company for export. According to the company representative, the garment process uses a lot of electricity so they want to be proactive in production. Therefore, installing the solar power roof system is the best solution. The company has invested a 7 million USD solar power roof system with a capacity of 1MW. Although the cost of investment is expensive, the company can save electricity during the production process. In addition, the solar panels on the roof can reduce heat very well, the company will save money on cooling.

“Solar power is encouraged by the State because it is a clean production trend. In the future, it will be widely used by enterprises and households with a very fast growth rate. RedSun company set a growth target of 400 percent in the future to meet the market demand” – Mr. Diep Bao Canh added./.
