Can Giuoc promotes OCOP product development

Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Can Giuoc District, Long An Province - Nguyen Thi Thanh Tuyen said that the district currently has 30 3-star OCOP products. The OCOP program is actively implemented by the district to create reputation for local products, thereby creating high added value, increasing income for people, contributing to restructure the agricultural sector associated with the development of small-scale industry and occupations, promoting production chain linkages associated with consumption and building a new rural district.

Phuoc Hau Commune has the largest vegetable growing area in the district. Phuoc Hiep Safe Vegetable Cooperative, Phuoc Hau Commune takes advantage of the rich raw material area in terms of land, soil, climate and year-round fresh water to grow leafy vegetables and yu choy using high technology in greenhouses and net houses.

In addition, the Cooperative also applies a smart irrigation system and new generation organic fertilizers, thereby ensuring a green, clean environment after harvesting and producing safe products according to VietGAP standards.

Thanks to the linkage of business and production, many agricultural products have clear origins. The Cooperative creates jobs for a number of farmers in difficult circumstances with stable income, helping farmers improve their lives, enhance their spiritual life and develop local products.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phuoc Hiep Safe Vegetable Cooperative - Tran Thanh Minh informed that up to now, the cooperative has 5 products including green mustard, green onions, yu choy, Malabar spinach, and watercress that have been recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards. These vegetables are produced in a closed environment, in an organic direction, are naturally grew, and are harvested and processed using high technology. Thanks to the application of VietGAP process and OCOP certification, the reputation is enhanced and customers are satisfied.

According to the People's Committee of Can Giuoc district, OCOP products quickly asserted their position and were positively received by the market, helping farmers expand their production scale, contributing to economic restructuring and increasing income. Through the OCOP Program, the district's typical and traditional products are effectively exploited, meeting market demand.

In the coming time, Can Giuoc will continue to promote trade promotion and advertise OCOP products on e-commerce platforms. In addition, the district will strengthen product quality management, support the development of new products, which are key products and traditional specialties of localities; encourage production facilities to expand their production scale and apply new machinery, equipment and technology in production, processing and preservation of products./.
