Connecting consumption of local agricultural products

Recently, Long An's trade - service industry has maintained a relatively stable growth rate, an abundant and diversified in terms of designs and types commodity market, meeting the needs of consumers. Currently, functional branches of the province continue to strengthen trade promotion activities, expand markets and connect businesses to consume agricultural products.

Strengthen trade promotion

Since the Covid-19 pandemic was brought under control, economic activities went back to normal, and the commodity market became active again, the Department of Industry and Trade and related industries have implemented many trade promotion solutions such as: organizing trade activities with enterprises in the provinces; bringing agricultural products to supermarkets and wholesale markets; put products on the e-commerce platforms for promotion and consumption.

Leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade introduce typical products of the province to foreign customers

For example, thanks to participating in trade promotions, Phuoc Hoa Safe Vegetable Cooperative (Phuoc Van Commune, Can Duoc District)  found more customers. Director of Phuoc Hoa Safe Vegetable Cooperative - Kieu Anh Dung said: “The cooperative currently has 62 members. Thanks to participating in many trade promotions and trade connections, the output of products is stable. On average, every day, the cooperative consumes about 2 tons of vegetables of all kinds to collective kitchens, safe vegetable selling points in Tan An city, Thanh Hoa district, etc".

In the first 9 months of 2022, the Department of Industry and Trade signed agreements with many large supermarkets in the region: Co.opmart system, Go supermarket, San Ha store chain, Bach Hoa Xanh, Long An Post Office, An Giang's Tu Son supermarket, enterprises with a large number of workers in the province and enterprises of Tay Ninh, Tien Giang, etc. Thereby, helping to promote and sell agricultural products of the province. The Department also coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to welcome foreign business delegations such as the Republic of Gabon and South American countries to learn about importing Fohla rice and bananas from the province. This is considered a premise for businesses and cooperatives to meet, exchange and trade with each other in the near future.

Participating in trade fairs is an opportunity for businesses, cooperatives, and production facilities to meet and connect with customers.

In addition, since the beginning of 2022, the Department of Industry and Trade has also supported more than 170 turns of enterprises, cooperatives and production facilities to participate in trade fairs and exhibitions in Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Can Tho,etc.

Director of Nha Minh Garden Company Limited (Tan Binh Commune, Tan Tru District) - Pham Ngoc Anh Tuan shared:“Through exhibitions, trade fairs, our company products have access to more customers. Thereby, we are invited to cooperate with many domestic and foreign enterprises, production facilities, and business households".

According to the head of Tan Tru Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - Dang Van Tay Lo, at the present, the locality is focusing on maximizing available potentials and creating favorable conditions for enterprises and cooperatives to implement solutions. breakthrough. At the same time, focus on applying technological advances, digital technology, biotechnology, organic to production, creating quality products, ensuring quantity supply to the market.

Promote e-commerce

Recently, Department of Industry and Trade has actively coordinated with relevant departments, branches and units to support enterprises, cooperatives and production facilities to participate in province's and popular domestic e-commerce platforms such as Voso, Postmart, Tiki, etc to increase consumption of products and goods, in line with the development situation in the current period.

According to statistics of the Department of Industry and Trade, there are currently 181 booths registered to participate with 485 products displayed on the provincial e-commerce platform (htttp://tradelongan.com); 383 organizations and individuals with 5,959 products are registered on 2 exchanges Postmart (https://postmart.vn) and Voso (https://voso.vn).

There are currently 458 products on sale on the province's e-commerce platform

Compared to traditional consumption methods, online sales channels through e-commerce floors not only open up new opportunities, helping farmers to introduce products to consumers across the country but also support the consumption of agricultural products more conveniently, avoiding price pressure from traders.

Sharing experiences as well as benefits and efficiency when distributing goods on e-commerce , Director of Go Den Production and Business Joint Stock Company - Dang Thanh Hung said, in order to put products on e-commerce platforms, serve customers online, in addition to training sessions organized by the Department of Industry and Trade in coordination with e-commerce platforms, the company also actively improves the design, quality and image of products. "Through e-commerce platforms, the company's products have been present in many provinces and cities in the country and initially attracted international customers' interest and understanding" - Mr. Dang Thanh Hung informed.

Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - Nguyen Thanh Truyen said: “In order to promote the digital transformation of agriculture in the province, especially to support production households to put agricultural products on e-commerce platforms, the Agriculture industry of the province must review and summarize the list of agricultural products, the output of each type, the situation of production, consumption and consumption demand. In addition, in order to improve the value chain of agricultural products, the province must build and develop certification of agricultural production practice standards, production models to enhance product value, and multi-value integration models in agricultural economic development”.

Thanks to stable output, income of the members of Phuoc Hoa Safe Vegetable Cooperative increased significantly

According to Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - Nguyen Tuan Thanh, despite the modest initial results, this is an opportunity for businesses and cooperatives to well implement the digital transformation program and familiarize themselves with the cyber environment., thereby helping businesses, cooperatives and people prepare basic equipment ready to enter the new business environment in the 4.0 industrial revolution as well as participate in international economic integration.

Currently, the connection and consumption of agricultural products still have some limitations as some enterprises and cooperatives have not boldly participated in the process of trade promotion and product introduction, especially trade promotion in remote provinces or afraid to put it on the e-commerce platforms. Commodity products of a few units are still monotonous in terms of design, form, and quality, which have not yet met the requirements. Some products have high prices compared to similar products on the market. The supply of goods and products has not been guaranteed as required because production is still fragmented, small, and retail.

Therefore, in the coming time, the provincial functional sector will promote trade promotion activities, focusing on connecting between suppliers and distributors to develop the domestic market, strengthen trade activities, linking consumption of agricultural products between localities and regions through activities of connecting supply and demand. Since then, actively contributing to the connection and consumption of agricultural products for local farmers. On the other hand, the functional sector will work with enterprises and supermarket systems such as Co.opmart, Bach Hoa Xanh, WinMart and other local agricultural production, trading and processing units to make plans to support the consumption and purchasing of agricultural products for farmers in the province.

“In the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with relevant sectors, especially localities with key agricultural products in the province to propagate and mobilize enterprises and production facilities to increase production capacity and purchase agricultural products for the people. At the same time, propagandize and mobilize enterprises, cooperatives, production and business establishments to apply information technology to sell on reputable e-commerce platforms to increase the number of product consumption "- Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh informed./.
