Vice Chairman of the Kien Tuong town People's Committee - La Van Dan implements urgent solutions to limit the spread of epidemic in the district
On June 20, Division of the provincial Department of Livestock, Veterinary and Fisheries said that it was coordinating with the government of Kien Tuong to deploy synchronously and drastically solutions to limit the spread of ASF in the area. Accordingly, the second ASF outbreak in Long An province was found in ward 1 and ward 2 of Kien Tuong town.
Testing sample is positive for ASF
In ward 1, the pig-feeding household is Mr. Bui Quoc Tuan with a total of 49 pigs. In the ward 2, the pig-feeding household is Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan with a total of 36 pigs. Earlier, the households found out that the pigs had stopped eating on June 17 and the pigs died slowly on June 19, then households immediately reported the situation to the local authorities. Functional agencies performed quick tests, results are that 5 out of 6 samples were positive for ASF and sent samples for testing.
By 21:00 on June 19, Veterinary Division of Region VI informed that samples taken from the above two households were positive for ASF.
Immediately after the discovery, the Town People's Committee instructed the functional agencies to coordinate with People's Committee of Ward 1 and Ward 2 and the owners of livestock to destroy the sick pigs according to regulations.
Pigs are transported to bury according to regulations
Previously, Long An province found and announced the first ASF outbreak occurring in Duc Hoa Thuong commune, Duc Hoa district on June 16. Up to now, there are 3 pig-feeding households in Duc Hoa district and Kien Tuong town with a total of 136 pigs infected and destroyed according to regulations.
In order to prevent and determine the ASF area which is spreading widely, the provincial People's Committee continuously has the electric and paper documents sent to agencies, units and localities in the province to prevent and fight against ASF in the past days. Especially, activities of buying, selling and transporting origin-unknown pork products are banned./.
