Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Tuong Town - Nguyen Van Vu said that the program on developing Town's urban is expected to be submitted to the Department of Construction and the People's Committee of Long An province for approval by the end of 2021. Also, the People's Committee of Long An province just issued Document No. 2434/UBND-KTTC (March 24, 2021) approving the town to prepare the "Project on classifying Kien Tuong Town urban of Long An province meeting the criteria of grade-III urban area" expected to be implemented with the plan and progress of completing to declare the grade-III urban in 2022.

It is identified as a key urban of a deep flooded sub-region with favorable soil conditions, Kien Tuong Town has many opportunities for development. The locality has 2 routes, National Highway 62 and National Highway N1 passing through. These are two main traffic routes connecting with other key economic regions in the province, Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Thap and Long Xuyen and play an important role in border trade with Cambodia.

In recent years, the organization and implementation of urban development programs in the town has achieved certain results, contributing to accelerating the speed of rapid and sustainable urbanization. Many key traffic infrastructure projects in the town such inter-commune roads as Binh Hiep - Thanh Tri, Tuyen Thanh - Thanh Hung, Binh Tan - Binh Hiep, the embankment, so on are also interested in construction investment.

In addition, some important projects such as the Long An border gate economic zone technical infrastructure project (phase 2) have been completed and handed over to the provincial Economic Zone Authority for management and operation. Other projects gradually being completed include Kien Tuong Town's embankment (phase 4), the section from Ca Ro bridge to Huynh Viet Thanh; Bus Station - Residential Bus Station; Nguyen Van Troi street, the extended Pham Ngoc Thach street, and so on.
