Foreign diplomats hail WEF ASEAN 2018 theme

The praise was made by representatives from foreign embassies and international organisations attending a roundtable meeting on the WEF ASEAN hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on August 21.

Chairing the event, Assistant to the Foreign Minister Nguyen Van Thao affirmed that WEF ASEAN is a major and prestigious forum in the region, attracting high-ranking country leaders, international organisations and corporate executives. 

It is not only one of the important external activities of Vietnam in 2018 but also a significant event for the whole ASEAN region, actively contributing to consolidating solidarity and promoting the image of a dynamic and innovative ASEAN in the context of the fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), he said.

Most of the participants spoke highly of Vietnam’s preparations for the event. They showed their support for and vowed to closely coordinate with Vietnam in preparation for WEF ASEAN and ensure the effective participation of countries’ high-ranking leaders at the forum.

WEF ASEAN will take place at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi from September 11-13. The forum will see nearly 60 sessions to discuss start-up development and address issues arising from the revolution.

Roughly 800-1,000 delegates are expected to join the event.

The WEF was established in 1971 as a non-profit foundation and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas./.
