Long An summarizes propaganda on demarcation and landmark set-up in 2019

Up to now, Long An has identified and built 45 out of 60 main landmarks, 85 out of 85 sub- landmarks 

Long An was assigned to set up 54 locations with 60 key landmarks by the National Border Commission; 61 positions with 85 extra landmarks. Up to date, 41 out of 54 locations have been identified and built with 45 out of 60 key landmarks; 61 positions, 85 extra landmarks, receiving and managing 11 positions with 25 extra landmarks handed over by Dong Thap province; Thus, the system of extra landmarks includes 72 positions with 110 extra landmarks identified and completed in the practical situations (reaching 100% of the plan). It has demarcated 86.545 out of 132.97km (44.303km on land borders and 42.242km on the river).

In 2019, all levels, sectors and functional forces in charge of border management and protection closely coordinated to propagandize. The methods of propaganda on demarcating, setting up landmarks were conducted through rapporteur conferences, posting articles about the results, advantages and difficulties in the process of demarcating, setting up landmarks on the Vietnam-Cambodia land border on the mass media, provincial Party Committee website, Provincial web portal, departments, agencies, localities, etc.

In addition, border posts coordinating with Party committees and local authorities on the borderline to propagandize demarcation and landmark set-up that bring high efficiency such as organizing propaganda conferences for households in border areas, conducting small propaganda to each household, integrating into law propaganda, meeting for teams, associations, residential areas and so on in order to propagate and mobilize the people to follow the regulations on border protection and management.

Long An Newspaper and Long An Radio and Television maintain the coordination with the Provincial Border Guard Command to carry out the special page and column of "For the sovereignty of border security" with many news and articles reflecting the results of protecting the sovereignty and border security, including demarcation and landmark set-up.

The Headquarters of the Border Guard, the Military Command and the Provincial Public Security coordinate to promote the propaganda to implement the movement of the entire people to protect the Homeland security, the movement "People participate in self-management of the border, landmarks and security order of hamlets in the border areas", the model of "Peaceful border, strong internal border", the model of "Border clanging", etc.

Party committees and local authorities in the province organize many activities of visiting, diplomacy, cooperation, exchanges in many fields, supporting the construction of bridges and roads, medical examination and treatment for some border communes of the two provinces of Svay Rieng and Pray Veng. Regular meetings between authorities at all levels, posts and border posts with Svay Rieng and Pray Veng provinces are maintained; in which, the viewpoints and policies of the Party and State in implementing demarcation and setting up landmarks are propagandized, and jointly build a Vietnam-Cambodia border peacefully, stably, cooperatively and developing together.

Some districts do not have borderlines but actively support border districts in funding for demarcating and setting up landmarks under the policy of "Backline sponsors the front line".

The conference also heard the report of the Propaganda Department of border localities and the Border Guard of the province and district about the advantages and difficulties in propagating demarcation and landmarks setting-up, coordinating to keep security and order and strengthening solidarity and attachment to the peoples of the two border regions, etc.

At the same time, solutions to strengthen and develop solidarity, friendship and cooperation with Svay Rieng and Pray Veng provinces must be strengthened. The news and propaganda on the mass media must be strengthened. The propaganda to households in border areas and the effectively implemented models must be maintained./.
